Figure Drawing

It's been a while since the last update. All I can do is get back on the horse. There's a new painting coming very soon!

Work in progress

This piece was started when the sheet of vellum fell perfectly over the words. Normally I don't do such spontaneous things, but it looked perfect.

Finished?

Do you think this is done? I was going to make her intestines more glistening, but I thought without it reminds me of Francis Bacon. What do you think?

Fresh Meat at 500x

My piece from the previous post got accepted! I'm really honored that they choose me for one of the 30 spots, and I will be the only student from UTD. My first thought when I saw that was "Did Frank Tringali and Yaseen Benhalim not enter?" Other than that it feels very strange and I'm nervous about it. Hopefully I can make UTD at least look crazy and violent.

Fresh Meat

This would be painting number four. It's starting to look like a series. I feel terrible that it's been so long between posts. At least now I have a glut of work that will keep me posting regularly for the nest few weeks.

Bio-manner-ish

I just realized I hadn't posted this painting. It's about a year old. I was trying to emulate Hans Bellmer and Henmaru Machino's way of turning the body into an abstraction.

What I've been up to

One finished commision for my neighboor.

And I'm reworking this painting. It's coming along nicely.

Sad news

Deborah, whose health was my excuse for irregular postings, passed away a few days ago.
As I was worried that I didn't take a nice enough portrait of her while she was alive, I snapped this picture of her (still living) sister Maria.

A new doll

Used the money from my commission (photos coming shortly) to buy an Elfdoll Hana. Her foot immediately broke. >.< That is my cursed touch on elfdolls, it happened exactly the same way to Ryung as soon as I bought her, too. Her she is after some epoxy therapy.
I've named her Diana Barry for her sweet smile and raven black hair.
Her former owner said she had trouble standing, but she did just fine with me.

Art reception

At the end of the semester, here photo's from the final critique and art show reception.

The large piece was done by Eric, a man from Tanzania. I love how his sexual women look so vibrant and larger-than-life, where as mine looks so tiny and fragile.
People! And their looking!

My piece for May is a commission from our neighbor, a portrait of his daughter.

Your effort to remain you is what limits you

Alice Gardner-Bates, Your effort to remain you is what limits you, oil on canvas, 20x20, 2011

Saturday, April 2, 2011

I missed last week, so here's a biggie. This is an almost finished, big, serious painting. I meant to post another painting too, but the picture didn't turn out any good. Oh well, it will be finished next week.

Preview!

Here's a preview of a series of five drawings. They'll be done Thursday. Part of finishing them has been transferring them to cleaner, nicer paper. These are the old dirty originals.

A hodge podge

After a concrete theme for all of my posts, here's a jumble.

This will be part of a series, but only one so far.

Life Drawings

These were done with a live model, under 5 minutes a piece.

Bellmer series

the goal was to paint one subject (my Ghost in the Shell 2:Innocence Gynoid doll) three ways, so I tried to paint it in three styles Hans Bellmer used.
